Hi there! My name is Angie.
I am a woodworker, and maker of creative and often whimsical creations.
My love of woodworking began over 10 years ago, and it has helped to define who I am as I have carried it with me throughout my life’s journeys. I am a native Nebraskan (Go Big Red!!) and later met my husband in Washington D.C. We have been fortunate enough to experience life abroad a bit, and I first began to dabble in woodworking while living in Baku, Azerbaijan. Eventually, we made our way to East Tennessee, where we live with our two kids, two cats, and the occasional chipmunk that the cats carry in from outside – which I can only assume is their way of suggesting we need yet another pet.
Finding inspiration in the ever-changing whims and interests of my two kids, I love working on pieces that bring a smile to their faces. And one of the things I love most about this creative outlet is its flexibility as it allows me to ever evolve. My creative interests range from festive, holiday decorations, to larger furniture pieces. I love the freedom to not only continue to improve a design so that it most closely matches the image in my head, but also to change direction completely and attempt a new design or technique that challenges me creatively and stretches my skills.
I am a self-taught, and persistent learner. And I constantly make mistakes. In any other facet of my life, this fact would be enough to make me quit, but somehow with woodworking my mistake-making only serves to refocus my efforts and improve my technique. I am, in all honesty, a natural bungler at heart, and I delight in the rare occasion when my efforts result in something other than a pile of sawdust.
When I am not losing track of time in my home workshop, I am likely taxiing my kids to and from school, or to their various instrumental and sporting events. And all too often I can be caught (much to the amusement of my family) staring off into space as I mentally map out my next project idea - which I don’t recommend as this state of mind is not conducive for safe driving!
Enough about me. I’m off to the workshop!
